Background / Itinerary
I always feel bad or spoiled when I try to explain why I quit my job to travel around the world or at least some of the continents. I assume it is a First-World-Problem to have a well-paid and stable job, the freedom to do pretty much anything in your free time and still not feel happy. Anyway that was me and since I did not come up with an idea of a more fulfilling job I decided to go travel as long as I still can and have no valid excuses. A wise person would probably tell me now that you don’t have to travel far to search for happiness, because you can only find it within yourself, but I am not there yet ;-).
My general idea is to first travel to India and stay in an Ashram to train my body with yoga and my mind with meditation. I am not the most relaxed traveler (yet) so especially improving the mindset could prove itself useful later on and who knows, might even help to find this happiness. As mentioned before I did not plan far ahead, so I have no clue how long I will stay in (the) Ashram(s) and in India. I should leave by the end of March though, because that’s when my visa expires :-).
Within India I plan to travel from south to north with the destination Himalaya. After India I would like to travel east through Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines and so on. Yes, that’s basically every country if you move east on the map, I probably won’t visit them all but will decide as I move along.
Depending on how well everything goes Central- and South-America are also on the table after South-East Asia but you never know, it might also be South Africa or Australia or even Europe.
